Man United vs. Newcastle: Preview, TV Info, Lineups

Date:

The Premier League heavyweights Manchester United lock horns with Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Saturday, looking to stretch their winning streak to the fourth match in a row.

The Red Devils opened their new League campaign in grand style with back-to-back 1-0 victories over Tottenham and Aston Villa, before drowning Club Brugge 3-1 on Tuesday night kick-off their Champions League campaign even more impressively.

Louis van Gaal will be aiming to maintain their offensive rhythm and goal scoring prowess, but standing in their way are a new-look Newcastle side keen to find winning ways in the English top flight sooner than later.

The Magpies have earned just one point from their opening two games.

Team News

Manchester United

Sergio Romero will continue in goal for United as the first choice goalkeeper David de Gea’s impending move to Real Madrid continues to drag on.

A mild thrombosis will keep Centre-back Phil Jones away from the live action while defender Marcos Rojo is unlikely to feature as he lacks match sharpness.

Memphis Depay’s explosive midweek performance will keep him out on the left wing, with Adnan Januzaj expected to keep his central berth.

Wayne Rooney hasn’t impressed with his performance, but there isn’t any immediate danger to his starting spot.

Newcastle United

Summer signing Florian Thauvin is all set for Newcastle debut only days after completing his move to Tyneside.

Moussa Sissoko picked up groin injury was forced off against Swansea in their last match, but is expected to recover and take his place in the starting XI.

With Janmaat suspended, Massadio Haidara is likely to switch over to right-back with Jack Colback dropping back to fill in on the left side of the defence. This would allow Cheick Tiote return to the fold in central midfield.

With the current average of a yellow card every 12 Premier League minutes, Aleksandar Mitrovic is unlikely to find a place in starting xi unless he curbs his wild side.
