Newcastle United among three Premier League clubs eyeing move for €25m English international

Date:

Newcastle United have made an impressive start to the Premier League campaign but have not garnered the kind of attention that they should have. In four games, the Magpies have three wins and one draw.

They have scored six goals and conceded three so far. While the club would want the goalscoring count to go up, it is bound to happen once Swedish sensation Isak hits his straps and starts scoring regularly.

The Magpies meanwhile continue to plan for the future, looking into the market for future opportunities. As per Spanish publication Fichajes, Newcastle United are among three Premier League clubs eyeing a move for Angel Gomes.

The other English clubs in the race are Tottenham and Liverpool. German giants Borussia Dortmund are also keeping tabs on the player. The €25-rated English international has had a sudden rise to the limelight in recent weeks.

Gomes, despite impressive performances for Lille in recent seasons, came into prominence after interim England manager Lee Carsley called him up to international duty in the recently concluded break.

The 24-year-old exuberated a calm presence in midfield and showcased his immense ability on the ball. This has prompted Premier League clubs to take a look at him and try and bring him back to the country.

This further goes on to underline the fact that English players lose prominence when they move to foreign leagues unless they are Jude Bellingham. Thankfully for them though, Carsley seems to look past that bias.

It remains to be seen if Angel Gomes ends up in the Premier League and more specifically, Newcastle United. He would be a great addition to the squad. He has a contract until 2025 which would mean that he might be available for a bargain price and let’s wait and see how it goes.
