Newcastle Vs. Chelsea Starting Lineups: Terry Again Destined To Bench

Date:

Reigning Premier League Champions would be keen to extend their winning streak when they take on underdogs Newcastle United at St. James Park this evening.

Jose Mourinho’s side made a stuttering start to the new season but managed to pull their campaign back on track with three victories in a row.

The Blues, heading into Saturday evening’s fixture on the back of a 4-1 morale boosting victory over Walsall in the third round of Capital One Cup are favourites to bag all three points against the Magpies.

Chelsea also defeated local rivals Arsenal 2-0 in a London Derby at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Meanwhile, Newcastle currently sits in the relegation zone and are struggling for form at the moment.

Chelsea boss has decided to field the same team that started against Arsenal last week, with the exception that French striker Loic Remy comes in to replace Diego Costa. The Brazil international is serving the three-match suspension for showing violent conduct in the game against Gunners.

Chelsea Captain John Terry is once again destined to the bench following his League Cup start at Walsall while Kurt Zouma retains his place as he partners England international Gary Cahill at centre-half.

Aleksandar Mitrovic returns after serving a three-match ban and lines up in the attack alongside Ayoze Perez.

Midfielder Florian Thauvin drops to the bench to spare the space for Vurnon Anita while left-back Kevin Mbabu displaces Massadio Haidara in defence.

Here is how the two sides are lining up for today’s fixture.
