As the Premier League enters into the festive period, twelve players who performed brilliantly over the past month have been nominated for the player of the month.
Mesut Ozil
The German playmaker has been a key figure for The Gunners in the final third this season, racking up a total of 15 assists in 17 games already this season.
His latest pair of assists came against Manchester City on Monday night when he set up Theo Walcott and Giroud.
He set a new record for seven consecutive assists in the Premier League and made a total of four assists from November 21 to December 21. Ozil is currently on course to break Arsenal Legend; Thiery Henry’s record of 20 assists in a single season if he continues his red-hot streak. He certainly will be vital in Arsenal’s title challenge.
Jamie Vardy
It will be unfair to talk about Leicester’s unexpected rise to the top of the League without putting much emphasis on Vardy’s goal-scoring exploits. He has a total of 15 goals in 17 games this season and even broke former Manchester United’s player; Van Nistelrooy’s record of ten consecutive goals in the EPL. He scored in eleven straight games.
Vardy scored three goals over the course of the month; from November 21 to his latest game at Goodison Park.
N’golo Kante
The French midfielder has also been key to The Foxes spectacular season so far as his contribution from the heart of midfield has been remarkable.
The young, combative midfielder has a 4.2% interception success rate. He also had a very impressive month that saw Leicester win 3 of their four games. His ability to drive forward at opposition defenders with ease has helped Leicester this term and has earned him recognition as one of the best holding midfielders In the Premier League.
Olivier Giroud
This season has been a real turn around for the Frenchman as he looks to silent his growing critics. Giroud has been a primary beneficiary of Arsenal’s teammates; Mesut Ozil’s fine form, netting six goals from his assists. Giroud has scored ten goals already this season and three of them were scored this month.
Giroud seems to have finally made up for his lack of pace by switching positions with his fellow attackers during games, thereby making him unpredictable for defenders nowadays.
Troy Deeney
The Watford skipper has formed an incredible partnership with fellow strike partner Ighalo; the pair has 17 goals between them. Deeney has scored one goal and made an assist in December.
Deeney’s superb form has powered Watford to the top half of the table.
Riyad Mahrez
Another in-form attacking midfielder, who has racked thirteen goals and seven assists in 16 appearances for The Foxes in the current campaign. He likes to dribble and is averaging 3.6 dribbles per game.
December has been a solid month for the Algerian; he scored a hat-trick against Swansea. Keeping him in form and fit will be key to Leicester hopes of overachieving this season.
Dele Alli
The former MK Dons player has been top notch since his introduction to the Spurs line-up, a tough tackler and energetic young player. There were even talks at some point on whether he can captain the team because of his on-field dedication.
Dele has scored two goals and made one assist so far this month.
Adrian
Adrian is one of West Ham’s highlight of the season, with breath-taking saves and clean sheets to his gloves credit.
He has kept three clean sheets in his last four games this month.
Odion Ighalo
The Nigerian is behind Vardy on the goal-scoring chart currently with 13 goals to his name. Ighalo’s pairing with skipper; Deeney is presently yielding great results for Watford.
His latest goal(s) this month came against Liverpool where he scored a brace.
Romelu Lukaku
The Big Belgian is having the time of his life in front of goal at the moment. He has scored in his last seven BPL games. He is level on 13goals with Watford’s Ighalo and has scored four goals this month.
Junior Stanislas
Stanislas has had an awesome season for Bournemouth. The English attacking midfielder has scored five goals this season and made a good impression in his last two games against West Brom and Manchester United. He has played three games in December and scored once against Manchester United.
Yannick Bolasie
The tricky Congolese has stepped up this month with his performance for Crystal Palace. He scored a brace against Newcastle on the 28 of November was named man of the match in his side’s 2-1 win against Stoke.
Arnautovic
The Stoke forward has also had an inspiring month in which he scored a brace against Manchester City.
