Real Madrid’s New Transfer Policy

Date:

Real Madrid, the biggest football team in the world, have never shied away from making headlines and Florentino Perez’s reign as the Real Madrid chief has brought us the famous “Galacticos” term. The word which is synonymous with Real Madrid has apparently distanced itself from the team which made the term famous.

What is the previous policy of Real Madrid?

Under Florentino Perez’s first “Galacticos” project, there were many signings, and superstars like Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo and David Beckham have graced the team. The second wave has also seen further superstars like Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale at Real Madrid.

Why the change?

The apparent ‘U-Turn’, though financially beneficial, has unleashed a war of egos and uncontrollable culture of complacency at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid’s last “Galacticos” signing was James Rodriguez, a player who can be seen playing for Bayern Munich, on loan from Real Madrid.

What is the change?

Things have changed in recent times, and Real Madrid have shifted their transfer strategy. Instead of spending big on the superstars, Real’s billionaire president, Florentino Perez, has started signing players in their teens. Real Madrid’s way to avoid missing out on the next Kylian Mbappe is to sign him when he’s barely a teen.

Did Real Madrid sign anybody already?

The exciting youngster from Norway, Martin Odegaard, started Real’s new transfer policy. Though Odegaard hasn’t exactly taken off, at 18, he has every chance of becoming the next superstar to emerge from Norway.

Jesus Vallejo, a player in the mould of Sergio Ramos, was the next player to follow. Asensio is the most high profile player to be signed by Real under their new transfer policy. Bought for €3.9 million, the youngster is already an established superstar and has represented Spain 8 times already. With an intense interest from Manchester United, Asensio could be the next €100 million player.

The highly rated Federico Valverde, currently on loan at Deportivo La Coruna, was the next to follow. At Flamengo is Vinicius Junior, a 17-year-old, who has prompted Los Blancos to shell out €45 million. The chief star of Brazil’s U-17 World Cup team, Alan, dubbed the “new Coutinho” would be moving to Real in summer of 2018.

Following the U-17 World Cup, Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement to sign Brazil U-17 star, Alan, to continue their new transfer policy. The attacking midfielder from Palmeiras has a €50 Million release clause, which the Real Madrid would seek to lower. With Alan’s agent, Juan Figger, frequently meeting the chiefs at Madrid, Alan, could be rubbing his shoulders with the stars at Real Madrid from next season.

Alan may not be the last member of Real Madrid’s bulging youth team, full of potential Kylian Mbappes. A team which spent Millions on proven superstars have changed their transfer policy for good.
