Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that Alex Sanchez is not fit enough to stage an injury comeback ahead of the FA Cup clash with Sunderland on Saturday following a hamstring problem he’s been struggling with since late November, as per reports from goal.
Wenger’s hopes of playing Sanchez against Sunderland in their FA Cup tie on Saturday have been shattered as the Chile international doesn’t seem to have returned to full fitness ahead of the crucial clash.
The Arsenal boss has expressed his desire to feature Sanchez as soon as possible, but he doesn’t want to rush the ex-Barcelona star into the fray to reduce the risk of further injury concerns.
Alexis Sanchez’s recent absence from the team has brought about the emergence of a new star; Joel Campbell, who has fit in quite nicely with the Arsenal first-team squad.
He’s got pace and superb technique, but he surely can’t be compared to Sanchez just yet.
Wenger addressed Sanchez’s injury situation saying: “The bad news of the week is that Alexis is not quite ready. It is a precaution because of his hamstring, and it takes a few more days. He’s not bad, but he’s not ready.”
Surely Sanchez back to action along with the brilliance of Mesut Ozil would be a joy to watch, but sadly Arsenal fans will have to wait a little while longer for the return of their marquee man.
Ozil himself has been given some time off from the Arsenal squad as Wenger wants him to be at his best as the Gunners look to launch a massive title challenge in the coming weeks.
Wenger also shed some light on the injury situation of Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky saying: “Tomas Rosicky is not far, he’s back in full training next week, so should be available soon. Mikel is available.”
Once Sanchez gets back to full fitness Arsenal fans can expect a dramatic increase in the club’s overall performance as the dexterous and mercurial nature of his playing style would definitely keep Arsenal at the top of the table.
