Brentford got their Premier League campaign off to a winning start with an impressive 2-1 win against Crystal Palace. The game almost played out like a boxing match with both teams exchanging punches throughout the 90 minutes.

Both teams had chances to score goals throughout the games and the Bees just took their chances better. The first half had an end-to-end nature to it whereas Palace controlled the second half despite not being able to score a goal.

Thomas Frank made a brave decision last night by leaving Ivan Toney completely out of the squad amidst movement regarding his future. As per reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Saudi club Al Ahli remain in talks to sign the 28-year-old Brentford star after seeing a £35m bid rejected last week.

Negotiations are continuing between all parties and Toney and his family need to make a decision on a move to Saudi Arabia. He’s the number one target for the SPL club this summer but there are two names on the list.

The Bees will be keen to sort out the 28-year-old’s future in the coming days. With a big game against Liverpool coming up next weekend, Frank will want to know whether or not he can count on Toney.

Even without their star striker, Brentford did not look out of place in attack. Wissa and Mbuemo led the line brilliantly, with both getting on the scoresheet. Thus, Frank will not be too disturbed even if Toney was not available for the Anfield trip.

At this stage, it looks increasingly likely that Brentford fans have seen the last of Toney in a Bees shirt. It’ll be a huge surprise if he plays again for the club but let’s see how his future pans out in the coming days.
