Sir Jim Ratcliffe Partly Taking Over United – A Fan’s Perspective

It’s a saga which ran over the summer and even well before that, but as per several media outlets, 20-time Premier League champions are close to having a new part owner, Nice owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Sir Jim, who had been locked in negotiations against Sheikh Jassim, looks to have been able to persuade current United owners the Glazer family, to make him part owner.

As per several reports, Nice owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has acquired a 25% stake in the club.

Some fans aren’t convinced, but I, Ayyaz Malik want to argue there is a reason to feel optimistic about this minority stake takeover.

Sir Jim is expected to take charge of football operations when this deal is actually confirmed.

My main source of optimism is based on West Ham United getting some partial investment from Czech Billionaire Daniel Kretinsky.

As a result of that investment, West Ham seems to be more financially competitive. The Hammers for two summer windows in a row have been able to spend more than £150 million in the transfer window.

Of course, the sale of Declan Rice offset this season’s spending spree, but the improved and smooth running of the club has also been a factor.

It’s something I have talked about in the past, one element in the recruiting of a player is that other clubs are interested in them too.

Why this is important is that should be the case when buying a player, other clubs should be interested too.

Should you want to sell said player, then there is that piece of mine, that there will always be a buyer.

Manchester United take note, and yes I am referring to the examples of Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one would like to think would get a contractual agreement in place to ensure that he is the one behind the football operations.

Not all fans are aware, but OSC Nice is one of the better-run football clubs on the transfers side, something Manchester United is not. If the owner of Nice gets his way then, United fans, gone are the day of the expensive flops.

Yes Pogba and so far Anthony, I am talking about you. As part of Sir Jim’s stake that he has acquired, part of the money from that will be going to work of maintaining the stadium.

It’s ok Man United fans, you can be optimistic
