Southampton vs Man United: Team News & Confirmed Lineups

Date:

United chief Louis van Gaal takes his side to the south coast looking to put a disappointing Champions League loss to PSV and Luke Shaw behind them when they face Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium on Sunday evening.

Ronald Koeman’s side are slow starters to the new season but remain an intimidating prospect for any side visiting their place, particularly one who have started the season as poorly as United.

The Saints are involved only in the English Premier League after they crashed out of the a Europa League qualifiers.

A Southampton victory tonight would see them escalate into the top half of the League table while a United can move only three points behind current league leaders Manchester City with a win.

United chief has called on Marcos Rojo to deputise for Luke Shaw, who will remain sidelined for at least three months with a fractured right leg.

Meanwhile, England’s leading all-time goalscorer and Red Devils skipper Wayne Rooney makes a comeback to the starting XI. He missed the Champions League fixture with a mild hamstring injury.

Michael Carrick starts in midfield alongside Morgan Schneiderlin while Bastian Schweinsteiger and Ander Herrera are destined to the bench.

Deadline day signing Anthony Martial leads the line for Van Gaal’s men.
