After five weeks of college football action, we take a look at the teams that have emerged as the top squads in the nation.

Ohio State (5-0): The Buckeyes have been enjoying an excellent teamwork for the past month. Despite a close call with Big 10 opponent Indiana last week, their unbeaten streak remains to be intact, and they are still considered to be the best in the nation. People were worried that they might not be able to replicate last year’s winning ways, but this early start has proven they might have what it takes.

Texas Christian University (5-0): The TCU Horned Frogs have already been described as overachievers in the season thus far. A victory over the Texas Longhorns on a national stage have proved that they might just belong to the top rankings of college football. Their ace receiver KaVontae Turpin was also named as Big 12 player of the week.

Michigan State University: The Spartans have something to smile about, especially after all-time win leader and current quarterback Connor Cook returned to top-performance in their last outing against Purdue. However, Just don’t expect him to do much of running against Rutgers next week. Injuries in the lineup and close scares in early games have many people doubting the Spartans, but time will tell if they deserved initial high rankings.

Texas A&M (5-0): The Aggies have one of the best defensive line-ups in College football, and five victories in as many weeks have proven that their defense is strong enough to win games. Coach Kevin Sumlin has proven that his newly installed system can be useful. The Aggies have a badly needed bye week coming to rest up and prepare for their 6th game for a big game against Alabama.

Louisiana State University (5-0): The LSU Tigers have been rolling thanks to their defensive line, the leadership of QB Brandon Harris, and excellent play from RB Leonard Fournette. Their shaky start has them ranked just outside the top 5 teams in the country, but their record speaks for itself.
Honorable mentions: Florida Gators, Utah Utes, Baylor University
