The Unai Emery era is upon us and the Spaniard is evidently hell-bent on revamping the Arsenal squad. Improving the current personnel as well, the 46-year-old will seek to bring in several reinforcements. According to reports, Emery has spoken with Arsène Wenger about areas of the squad that need improvement. It will now be Sven Mislintat’s job to scout those players while Raul Sanllehi will be tasked with negotiating those deals.
Here are three players that could be Unai Emery’s first three signings as Arsenal manager.
2Wilfried Zaha (RW/LW)
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette competing for the central forward position, Arsenal do not need a new striker. What they do need, however, is a wide forward to help balance the squad. The loss of Alexis Sánchez in January meant the Gunners didn’t have one out and out winger in the squad.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Danny Welbeck have both been deployed out wide, but neither are true wingers. Mkhitaryan loves to roam centrally while Welbeck prefers to play as a striker anyway. The signing of Wilfried Zaha would provide Unai Emery with a homegrown option to strengthen his squad. Zaha is one of the most exciting wingers in the Premier League and at the Emirates under Emery, the 25-year-old’s career could go to the next level.
