3 Strikers Chelsea Should Target While Searching a Tall Target Man

Antonio Conte Chelsea Giroud

For whatever the reason, Antonio Conte feels that Michi Batshuayi is not up to the desired standard at Chelsea Football Club. It appears that Blues boss would prefer a striker in the mould of a tall target man, something the Belgian is not.

So, he’s now going out of his way to find a target man that would be his plan B option for when Alvaro Morata cannot deliver the goods. As the transfer window comes to an end tomorrow evening, time is running out for the Blues, and they’ve now cited Olivier Giroud as their no.1 target. Is he the best choice for Chelsea? I don’t think so.

Here are three strikers Chelsea could sign instead of Olivier Giroud.

1Edin Džeko

Edin Džeko

At Manchester City, we never truly saw the best of the Bosnian. His bit-part role at the Etihad never truly allowed him to shine as he has done at Roma. At the Stadio Olimpico, the 31-year-old has become the focal point of Roma’s attack, and with that responsibility, he’s excelled. Džeko is big, strong and physically gifted in all aspects.

In 116 appearances for Roma, Edin Džeko has scored 61, that’s more than 1 in 2. That’s better than his 72 in 188 games at Manchester City. He’s more clinical than Olivier Giroud, he’d cost less, and he’d be more suited to Conte’s demands than the Frenchman. The Italian loves his players to work hard off the ball, something Olivier Giroud is not used to at the Emirates.
