Three Things Real Madrid Must do to Improve their Attack

Date:

A league and European Cup double is a special achievement, and Real Madrid certainly enjoyed a fantastic and extraordinary campaign in 2016-17.

But in order to continue that type of success, Los Blancos will have difficult decisions to focus on in the summer transfer window.

Club president Florentino Perez normally makes a consistent impact during this portion of the calendar, and the approaching weeks look to be no exception. With changes in the line-up on the horizon, particular attention will be on keeping Madrid’s stellar attack performing at a high level.

Clubs around Europe have shown interest in talents like Eden Hazard, James Rodriguez and Isco, and Madrid must have a plan in place moving forward.

We examine key areas that Real Madrid and manager Zinedine Zidane will concentrate on to ensure their effective attack is ready for the new season.

Keep Bale and Ronaldo in the team

Madrid’s front-line features an often overwhelming amount of quality and skill in the final third. But to have goalscoring numbers remain at an optimal level will require their stars performing at their best.

Summer transfer rumours can be difficult to judge, and the validity of many are questionable at times. But talks of both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale leaving the Santiago Bernabeu would be devastating for all involved.

Manchester United and manager Jose Mourinho have been linked to both players in recent weeks, and the lure of a return to the English Premier League for either may prove too tempting. Betfair betting offers on Ronaldo and Bale leaving change regularly, and there is a reason to believe that both will stay in the Spanish capital.

But it will be crucial for Perez and the Real Madrid hierarchy to keep both tremendous attacking talents in the near future.

Sign Mbappe

Many summer transfer periods see Madrid search for their latest Galactico, just as they did with James Rodriguez in 2014. The club may find that in their pursuit of Eden Hazard, but they also may discover a greater return with one of Europe’s most desired young strikers.

Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe enjoyed a breakout campaign for Les Rouges et Blancs last term, scoring 26 goals across all competitions.

The 18-year-old possesses exceptional pace and efficient finishing ability, as he helped to lead his club to a Ligue 1 title this past season.

There will be competitors for his signature, but the addition of Kylian Mbappe this summer would bring a new dimension to Real Madrid’s attack for years to come.

Find Morata replacement

A potent striker off the bench is critical for a side with title aspirations, and Zidane has enjoyed the services of Alvaro Morata late in many matches as an impact substitution. But with the striker reportedly set to join Manchester United in the coming days, a proper replacement will need to be identified.

Options such as Lucas Vazquez and Borja Mayoral are present in the squad, but the club may feel that they will need more quality at the top of the line-up in the new season.

Success can be difficult to follow. But with the right moves this summer, Real Madrid can take their first steps toward yet another thrilling campaign.

  1. I completely agreed!
Let the Realmadrid management not make a mistake of offloading any of Bale or Rinaldo, kindly sign Mbappe most importantly, Hazard should incase we missed Mbappe and most importantly sign or promote an attacker from team B whom they have confidence in him that can serve as a superior subtitude,or decide not to let Moratta leaves !
    Thank you.
