Manchester City pulls off an impressive comeback against Watford at Vicarage Road as they edge closer to the top of the table.
Manchester City got off to a brilliant start in 2016 as they emerged victorious in a 2-1 thriller following a Yaya Toure inspired comeback.
The game started out as a drab affair but soon developed into one of the most intriguing games in today’s Premier League match day as there was plenty of drama in the closing minutes of the fixture.
Watford opened the scoring in the second half with an in-swinging corner from Watson, which finally came off Aleksander Kolarov to put Watford in front in the 55th minute.
Soon after Kolarov’s own goal, Etienne Capoue went on a brilliant run in a bid to score an immediate second goal for Watford. He went past a couple of players before finally executing a killer nutmeg on Otamendi, although the fantastic display of skill amounted to nothing as he was unable to get a shot on target.
Manchester City then began to gain some pace later on in the game and eventually grabbed an equalizer through a perfectly executed corner kick which saw Yaya Toure hit the back of the net with a powerful shot in the 82nd minute.
Soon after Toure’s thunderous strike, it was time for Aguero to step up and produce a goal of his own as he headed in a beautiful cross from Bacary Sagna to seal the comeback for City.
The win has definitely improved Manchester City’s title credentials as they are currently just three points behind the League leaders Arsenal and one point adrift of 2nd placed Leicester City.
Despite the loss, Watford can take some positives out of the game as they played some great attacking football and following their exploits in the League this season it’s quite evident that they’re far off from a relegation battle.
