West Ham United are doing some incredible business in the transfer window this season. Tim Steidten is living up to the high reputation that he comes in with and getting the Hammers some world-class Champions League level players.
The London club signed Jean-Clair Todibo from OGC Nice earlier this summer. The French defender would massively upgrade Julen Lopetegui’s existing squad and provide the team with a stable leader at the back who can marshall the troops.
However, Steidten doesn’t seem to be done for the transfer window. West Ham have been long-time admirers of ex-Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante. The Al Ittihad hierarchy is however not entertaining a deal for their star player.
As per reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Al Ittihad are refusing to budge in their stance to sell the ex-Chelsea star despite inclination from both West Ham United and Atletico Madrid. The Saudi club want to keep hold of Kante.
Kante earns a whopping €480k a week on his current deal in the SPL. Neither West Ham nor Atletico can even come close to offering these wages but the player would understand the situation should he return this summer.
The biggest issue with this deal so far is the lack of awareness about Kante’s desire. Does the French World Cup winner want to come back to European football? He certainly showed in the Euros that he has still got gas left in the tanks.
Even Steidten’s immaculate reputation would struggle to pull this deal off for West Ham. Despite the obvious interest, it would be a huge surprise if Kante was to come back to Europe this summer. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 33-year-old.
