Now before you get angry or lose your rag, just hear me out. All season, Liverpool has been billed as an unstoppable force that many have feared, and few have been able to stop. However, that invincibility, excuse the pun, has gone. In the past three weeks, Liverpool has lost three games in convincing fashion. Suddenly, Liverpool’s inevitable Premier League doesn’t look assured and there are serious concerns that the Reds won’t lift the title, again.
Here’s why Liverpool won’t win the league.
It’s not opinion but fact that Liverpool hasn’t been at their best this season. Jurgen Klopp’s men played much better football last season but were only bested by the brilliance of Pep. This season, their nearest and dearest rivals have fallen by the wayside and barely put up a fight, presenting Liverpool as an all-dominant team. The reality is Liverpool hasn’t been great they’ve just been better than those around them who have underperformed. At this moment of writing, Liverpool stand 25 points clear at the top needing only 3 wins to secure the title. Those 3 wins will not be coming any time soon.
On Wednesday, Liverpool will attempt to overturn a 1-0 deficit in the second leg of their knockout tie with Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone’s men marshaled a well-deserved win at the Wanda Metropolitano and will repeat their game plan at Anfield. Of course, Liverpool have found much more success at home, but they don’t know what they’re facing in Atletico Madrid, they’re different. Once Simeone knocks Liverpool out of the Champions League, they’ll be desperate to prove a point in the league.
Straight after their UCL exit, Liverpool has to travel to Goodison Park in a match where form goes out the window. Barring a few slip-ups, Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton side have been relatively consistent and shown an improved level of quality. They’ll relish the opportunity to pounce on a wounded Liverpool team.

Apart from Aston Villa at home, none of these games is a guaranteed win for Liverpool. The manner of their defeat at Vicarage Road has given every team in the league hope against them. Nigel Pearson’s men won 3-0 but, on another day, they could have scored 5 due to the volume of chances they created.
Even last weekend, a struggling Bournemouth side came to Anfield and created enough to deserve a draw. Throughout the season, this Liverpool side has had VAR rescue them severally with other teams also not taking their chances against them. The Watford result has changed the aura of teams playing them and will give the remaining teams the confidence to defeat them.
Liverpool has gone from completing an invincible treble to barely scraping the Premier League. The fact this team was compared to the great Invincibles, United’s treble winners and City’s centurions is a disgrace. They’re not in the same class as those and this season has all but confirmed that.
