5 Players Chelsea Should Sign to Become a European Superpower

Why Chelsea is Blue

After a season of mid-table embarrassment, Chelsea have bounced back strongly under the tutelage of Antonio Conte. The Italian had turned the fortune of the club with his innovative tactics and clever man-management.

However, another thing that benefited the former Juventus manager was that he had no Champions League to worry about last season. As a result, with focus only on the Premiership, Chelsea players were quite fresh and won the league by the end of the season after beating off competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

With Europe to think about this season, here are 5 signings Chelsea could make to increase their strength in depth and become a European superpower

Mateo Kovacic

Chelsea might have just completed the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko, but their midfield still lacks variety needed in order to conquer Europe. Looking at the market, one of the most budgetary options out there is Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic.

The Croat’s place in Madrid’s squad is under scrutiny after the arrival of Dani Ceballos – and Chelsea could very well capitalise on that by moving for the former Inter midfielder. In Kovacic, Conte would get a midfielder that could unlock any defence with his creativity.
