5 Players Chelsea Should Sign to Become a European Superpower

Why Chelsea is Blue

After a season of mid-table embarrassment, Chelsea have bounced back strongly under the tutelage of Antonio Conte. The Italian had turned the fortune of the club with his innovative tactics and clever man-management.

However, another thing that benefited the former Juventus manager was that he had no Champions League to worry about last season. As a result, with focus only on the Premiership, Chelsea players were quite fresh and won the league by the end of the season after beating off competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

With Europe to think about this season, here are 5 signings Chelsea could make to increase their strength in depth and become a European superpower

3Alex Sandro – Juventus

Alex Sandro

While Marcos Alonso did an excellent job at left-back last season, he also often took his place for granted. As Real Madrid taught us last season; in order to have a competitive squad, a lot of quality players are needed in every position.

So, with Alex Sandro on board, Chelsea will have not only two great left-backs but also an upgrade to the Spaniard. In Conte’s system, or in modern football for that matter, full-backs play a significant role – they are essentially extra wingers in a system. Hence, it is absolutely pivotal to have quality full-backs.

And Alex Sandro is perhaps the most complete left-back in the world.
