Tottenham Hotspur are no longer a laughing stock in the Premier League. For the last two seasons, they were perhaps the best club in England, but have nothing to show for it. Losing points here and there, they lost their best chance to win the Premier League—twice.
And now, with Manchester City being at their rampant best, it seems unlike for Tottenham to ever make a claim for the top spot of the Premiership—at least for the foreseeable future. Currently, they are at 6thon the table and are 22 points behind league-leaders City and could lose out on a top 4 finish this season.

3Financial muscle
When you see the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United spending £75 million for the likes of Virgil Van Dijk and Romelu Lukaku, respectively, and Manchester City spending over a £100 million for full-backs, it just goes to show how much financial muscle Tottenham are competing against.
While Tottenham might have broken their transfer record of Davinson Sanchez, his £42 million fees is still a far cry from what the others have spent over the summer.
