5 Strikers Chelsea Could Sign This January

Date:

Chelsea are under some serious pressure from Manchester United. Frank Lampard’s side currently occupy 4th place, but with a minuscule 5 point lead over United, Chelsea are at risk of missing out on next season’s Champions League if they drop some important points over the next 5 months.

On that note, Lampard is looking to sign some new players in a bid to bolster Chelsea’s chances of finishing within the top four.

With transfer speculations suggesting that the Blues are in the market for a new striker, here’s a look at 5 strikers they could sign this month;

Moussa Dembele

Chelsea are currently heavily linked with a move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele. The Frenchman has scored 11 goals in 19 appearances making him one of the most prolific strikers in the Ligue 1 at the moment.

Dembele is a physical striker who’s capable of holding the ball up and laying off to his teammates in Giroud-esque fashion. The 23-year-old is also quite good with the ball at his feet, as he’s able to dribble past defenders to create space for a shot or a pass.

Dembele would be an excellent addition to Chelsea’s lineup as he possesses a skillset that will allow him to thrive under Frank Lampard’s system.

Timo Werner

Timo Werner

Timo Werner has piqued the interest of Europe’s top clubs including Liverpool and Chelsea. He’s viewed as an ideal addition to Chelsea’s ranks thanks to his pace, and his natural goalscoring instinct.

Werner sits second on the Bundesliga top goalscorers charts, behind Bayern’s Lewandowski, having scored 18 goals in 17 appearances along with six assists to his name making him one of the most productive strikers across Europe’s top five leagues.

A player of his quality would be able to lead Chelsea to a top four finish.

Callum Wilson

Over the past few seasons, Bournemouth man Callum Wilson has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

He might not be ‘world-class’ but he’s an efficient goalscorer capable of converting his chances.
Bournemouth find themselves in a tough spot as they currently sit in 19th place on the Premier League table. Should Chelsea make an offer for Wilson, the Englishman would most likely opt for a move to Stamford Bridge.

Andrea Belotti

A couple of seasons ago, Belotti was one of the most prolific strikers in Europe, attracting interest from a host of clubs including Chelsea.

Chelsea could renew their interest in the 26-year-old this month, especially considering the fact that he is still finding the back of the net on a regular basis for Torino having scored 9 league goals this season.

Dries Mertens

Dries-Mertens

Belgian striker, Dries Mertens is one of the best strikers in the Serie A. Despite being 32, Mertens is incredibly fast and agile, two qualities that will allow him to succeed in the Premier League. Lampard is reportedly looking to sign Mertens this month.

He possesses an expansive skillset that could be enough to lead Chelsea to a top four finish.

  1. Dembele will be a great addition so GO FOR HIM though I believe he may not be released by his club. Mertens will also be useful.
