Arsenal’s Most Probable Starting Lineup Against Tottenham

Arsene Wenger will field his strongest starting XIs against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday in the League Cup derby clash as Arsenal look to snap their two-game losing streak. Here is Gunners’ most possible starting lineup.

Goalkeeper: David Ospina

Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina, who is expected to feature in the Cup games this season, should replace Gunners’ first choice keeper Petr Cech in the League Cup derby clash against Spurs.

Right Back: Debuchy

Mathieu Debuchy could challenge impressive youngster Hector Bellerin for the right back position.

Center Backs: Chambers & Mertesacker

Per Mertesacker joins the Gunners squad after recovering from viral infections. He is likely to be included in the starting Xis at the expense of Gabriel, who serves first of his three-game suspension for receiving a red card in Arsenal’s defeat to Chelsea. Chambers is expected to start his second match of this season on Wednesday.

Left Back: Gibbs

Kieran Gibbs, who has been Arsenal’s key player since 2007, should be given a start against Tottenham. The homegrown left-back is fully aware of the significance of the derby and may do his best at White Hart Lane.

Defensive Mid: Flamini

Mathieu Flamini, 31, is likely to make his first appearance for the new season. Alike to Gibbs, Flamini also knows the importance of Derby encounters.

Central Mid: Arteta

Arsenal skipper Mikel Arteta is set to make his second start of the new season. He will partner Flamini to provide a cover for his side’s back four.

Attacking Mid: Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey will return to the central midfield position.

Wide Right: Oxlade-Chamberlain

Oxlade-Chamberlain will be definitely ‘in’ at Wide Right position.

Wide Left: Walcott

Theo Walcott is a strong candidate for Wide Left position make diagonal runs that stretch the back four.

Striker: Giroud

French striker Olivier Giroud is set to lead Arsenal at Tottenham after losing his place to Theo Walcott in weekend’s defeat to Chelsea.
