Five Possible Left-Back Options Liverpool Should Consider to Compete With Alberto Moreno

Jurgen Klopp has seemingly decided to trim his Liverpool squad before next season kicks off in August, recently selling the Australian Brad Smith to Bournemouth for £6 million, leaving Alberto Moreno as the only natural left-back in a team.

The German manager also allowed Jon Flanagan to join Burnley on a season-long loan, and so it appears obvious he will need to bring a new face to compete with the Spaniard who was inconsistent last year and certainly appears a weak-link for the Reds.

Here are five possible contenders to be Liverpool’s new left-back.

1Jonas Hector – FC Köln

Jonas Hector

The German international had a fantastic season in Cologne and at the Euro’s this summer with his national team, which seems to have caught the attention of Jurgen Klopp.

Hector played over 130 times for Cologne and has 20 caps for Germany. He is another player, like Rodriguez, who’s arrival would probably mean Moreno dropping straight to the Liverpool bench.

Liverpool could make a bid in the coming days, and it is believed Hector’s current side want £22.5million for his services.

Klopp has another month to bring in a new left-back, and will probably do so, despite his statement suggesting James Milner can be used as an emergency stand-in in that position.
