Manchester United will host Tottenham Hotspur in their opening game of Barclays Premier League 2015-16 on Saturday at Old Trafford on lunchtime.

Making a strong comeback under Louis Van Gaal following a disastrous tenure of David Moyes, the Red Devils finished 2014-15 top-flight campaign at fourth position to earn a berth in the qualifying round of Champions League and will be keen to get their Premier League 21st title bid off to a perfect start.

Having strengthened their squad with the signing of Sergio Romero, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay during the summer transfer window, United will begin the new campaign as serious title contenders.

Tottenham, on the other hand, finished the last Premier League season at fifth to earn direct a qualification in the group stage of Europa League.

Spurs boss Mauricio has added strength to his defence by signing Kevin Wimmer, Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld as is eying finish in top-four this season, a feat the team had last achieved in 2012-13.

Team News:

Val Gaal has confirmed that goalkeeper David de Gea, who is linked with a move to Real Madrid, will not play against Spurs, which means new signing Romero could start in the net.

Marcos Rojo and Schweinsteiger are both short of match fitness and Schneiderlin, Depay and Darmian will be in-line to make their debuts for United.

Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is expected to start after recovering from a wrist injury he picked during a friendly against AC Milan earlier this week.

However, Andros Townsend, Roberto Soldado, Ryan Mason are all injury doubts.
