As Manchester United get ready to take the trip to Wales to face Swansea City this weekend, we take a look at the last three times that the Swans have beaten the Red Devils. And they are much more recent than you think, in fact, in the last six meetings between the two teams, Swansea have actually won more than United with three wins (all with a 2-1 scoreline) and just two losses in the six games. They will use this recent form for confidence going into the clash.

On Van Gaal’s (yes, him again) first game for Manchester United, he was expected to start the season perfectly with a comfortable win, but Garry Monk had other ideas and led his Swansea side to a historic victory. It was the first time the Red Devils didn’t win their opening game since 1972, and the first time Swansea won away at Man United since 1931!

Ki Sung-Yeung opened the scoring in the first-half with a fantastic drilled left-footed strike from the edge of the 18-yard box. However, an acrobatic Wayne Rooney effort levelled a few minutes after half-time.

As the hosts applied the pressure to win the game, they were caught on the break and Sigurdsson finished off a fast-flowing attack. This victory came just seven months after the Swans shocked a David Moyes-led Man United side in the 3rd round of the FA Cup as they won 2-1 at Old Trafford.
