Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of signing forward Anthony Martial from Monaco.

According to BBC, the two clubs have agreed a £36 million transfer fee for the 19-year-old French midfielder and he has been granted permission to travel to England for a medical as the summer transfer window closes on Tuesday.

Should the deal goes through, Martial will become Red Devils’ third most expensive signing after Argentina’s Angel Di Maria, whom they signed from Real Madrid for £59.7m last summer, and Spain’s Juan Mata, who joined from Chelsea for £37.1m in January 2014.

Martial began his career at French club Lyon, where he scored 32 goals in 21 appearances at youth level before making his competitive debut in the 2012-2013 season.

Martial played just three games for Lyon at senior level before joining Monaco, where he has scored 15 goals in 72 appearances in three seasons.

His contract at Stade Louis runs until 2019, having extended his previous deal for one year this summer.

Martial has represented France at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 and was summoned to the senior national team for the first time last week for forthcoming friendlies against France and Serbia.
